Why Google Search Should Be Your Best Friend
It’s really interesting how many times I run into people over and over again with all these questions and they are so stumped and don’t know where to find the answers. Let me ask you something……….
What is the html code for adding a space between two pictures?
What is the definition of quadrangular?
Where are the top ski resorts?
How do you fix a syntax error?
Ok, by now you are wondering what is this crazy lady talking about and I have no idea the answers to all these questions. There is ONE thing that they all have in common……...Google Search.
I have learned over the years that Google Search should be your best friend. Let me tell you when I first started online – I thought that you could only type in A WORD – YEA – I SAID ONE WORD. Oh this is so funny now that I think about it.
The other day someone asked me did I have the html code for adding a picture to their blog – so just out of curiosity I asked did she look for it on google and her answer was no didn’t know you could.
Then I was chatting with another friend and they were looking for a topic to write about and just felt that she was brain-dead as she couldn’t think of anything. So our of curiosity again, I asked her had she tried Google Search – she goes for a Blog Post?????? You are kidding.
Well actually I wasn’t and I’ll tell you why. I also draw a mental blank sometimes when I feel I need to get a post out on my blog – and because my passion is helping others – I just go to Google Search and type in help others and then I scan thru what comes up and this gets the juices flowing – positive attitude………how helping others can reduce stress…….increase your happiness by helping others………and the list goes on.
Another thing is when I get an error message – I just copy and paste that error message in Google Search and guess what………..I was NOT the only one with that question – that is how I squeak by with my unknown error messages. Oops, let the cat out of the bag on that one that is call a GOLD Nugget by the way lolololol
What I have found over the years is don’t just put in one word – type in multiple words and phrases, the same way you do with your keyword search phrases , or even type in your question – just like you was asking someone.
So the reason that I’m sharing all this is I had a mentor tell me once – Nancy each time you learn something NEW that puts you being able to answer more questions for others and what will that do for you – that will help you brand yourself, show others that you are an expert. Now don’t laugh at the word expert and it being used with yourself. STOP and think – you may not know alot yet – but you do know more than the person that just started today, the one that will start tomorrow and just think how much more YOU will know than the person starting in a week, month, year from now.
These tips you will be able to share with someone someday – and I know this will happen IF you make Google Search YOUR BEST FRIEND.
I got a great blog post – now what?
Interesting how you can get questions from friends and realize that it would make a great post. Many have started writing blogs and have some great info to share with others but then it just sits there and you don’t get any comments or know how to get people to see it. So here are a few of my secrets for getting people to my blog.
First, I send out a ping to all my social sites that I have a new post. If you have no clue what I’m talking about then you missed reading a previous post – check it out here Learn this word and get traffic to your site
Then after I have done that, I go to my facebook account and I post in these groups – these are just a few of my favorites

Post Anything
Now just don’t go in there and post – you have to also build a relationship with the group – stop and visit some of the blogs and then comment – and when others see you do this, then they will start returning the favor. This does NOT happen overnight and with your first post – this is something that you have to keep doing each time that you write a new post.
Like with all the other things that you do with marketing – you get back what you put in – you don’t leave any comments on others – you not going to get any on yours. The next thing that you notice is that you will start getting new followers – trust me it will happen.
And I’m sure by now you are thinking this woman is nuts – how in the world do you do all this – there is no way. Here is a gold nugget for you – when you get to Bloggers Cafe – you don’t have to comment on all of them like I do as I’m the creator of that group and it’s my job to do that – but what you do is scan the post in there and try and find 2 in each group and post a comment – then move to the next group, find 2 more and keep going. You get the idea – it really don’t take that long folks – it’s worth the effort.

How I come up with things to post about
You know if anyone had told me 3 years ago that I would be blogging I would have laughed so hard as I’m not a writer at all. But I had a friend of mine tell me to just write like I talk and is why you get a combo of southern hillbilly living in the North lololol
So when I first started, I was at a lost on what to write about – what in the world can I talk about that others will want to read. I have to admit that even in the beginning – I even posted emails that I got that I wanted to share with other for the lack of knowing what to write about.
But you know how I have come up with what to post about – everyday life give you so much if you will just let it. I’ll give you some examples – when I first started it seem that I was just brain dead, writer’s block you know what I mean. Well, if you are struggling and then learn how to get past it – that would be great info for someone to read – there are lot of people out there with the same issues you have and it’s great to read how other cope, get thru and keep moving forward.
What I have learned to do is keep a tablet with me all the time (a great friend shared this tip with me) then when those thoughts jump in my head I write them down – so the next time that I feel like writing – I have something to write about.
No, I don’t write everyday, the trick that I use is that when the words are flowing, I write several post and then publish them to come out every 3 – 4 days – this is great time management – at least for me.
Now the other thing I use to come up with things to post about is I listen, listen, listen – if you listen to what others are saying they will give you ideas on what they need help with and that is the easiest way for me to get post ideas.

Spam comments – what to watch for
I don’t know about you but I can’t believe what some will do to get their link noticed. Thank God a friend of mine told me about Akismet and if you don’t have it on your blog – then go to plugins and activate it. This filters the spam comments out – but before you delete all them go thru them as I have seen some comments that are not spam in there.
If you are just starting a blog, this is the best time to add this as I have heard it get tricking adding it after your blog has been going for a while. I remember when I first started and was so excited when I started to getting comments – I was thinking yea someone is reading what I wrote. This is every bloggers dream – to have someone read their blog and comment
But then it didn’t take me long to spot some of the spam comments that you will get and I’m going to use some example from my blog to show you what to watch for.

And the list goes on and on – these people are not your friend, not reading your blog post – they are just here to use your blog for backlinks. So don’t be afraid to delete them.

Ever Wish Someone Would Explain Blogging? Read This!
When I’m chatting with friends online and offline, it is surprising how many have not heard the word blog, blogging, blog post etc. Since I send most of my friends to my blog, I decide I would write and try to explain blogging and why I blog.
A blog is a type of website or part of a website.
Blogs are usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of
commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics
or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order.
So when I started with my blog, I had always been told to have your name in the title as a way of branding yourself but thought hmmm I couldn’t use just my name.com (now I know different). Well anyway, I thought about what I was going to be writing in my blogs and at the time wasn’t really sure – so that is how I came up with just my opinion lolol. This way I was not tied down to one subject and could write on a variety of subjects.
To try to explain blogging, the best that I can do is that I write about things that I’m passion about, things that I love to talk about, things that I have some knowledge in and most importantly – I blog because I like helping others. Over the years, I have learned some hard lessons and if I can save one person some of the painful hours that I have gone thru – then blogging to me is worth it.
When I first started, I really struggled about what to write and even just writing period – well a friend of mine told me Nance – pretend you are talking to a person and speak from your heart. Sounded good to me so that is what I have tried to do in my blogs, I share things that have helped me thru my online journey, things that have touch my heart and even share about my gardening knowledge. Of course, thru out my post, you will see a variety of subjects – I never knew I had so much to share. (Blabber mouth me hehe) So if this ole hillbilly can put her thoughts on paper, I’m sure anyone reading this can also. Actually there are times that I even amaze myself – as I still can’t believe that I can do this and enjoy it so much.
Another way to explain blogging is that it’s a way of writing short stories about you, your life, your likes, your dislikes, your journey thru life. I even get a kick out of going back to the older post and think to myself what were you thinking when you wrote that, The best reward that a blogger can get is someone that will follow them (subscribe to their blog) – that means that what you have written touched someone’s life, helped someone or maybe they just had a good laugh – whatever the reason – comments are a nice pat on the back – so don’t be afraid or shy. If you have enjoyed a blog, learn something, or thought it was funny – let the writer know – they will love you for it.
