Breast Cancer Awareness

When I was approached by some friends of mine to join them in a promotion for Breast Cancer Awareness – I was thrilled as this has always had a special place in my heart.  I would like to share a quick story.

Most of you know that I love gardening and was thrilled when our garden club decided to take on a project back in 2007 – it was call the Pink Ribbon Cancer Survivors Garden.  This idea was inspired by one of our members as she was diagnosed and she felt so blessed to have been a survivor that she want to create a place that others could come to and enjoy – and the location would be at the clinic that she had her treatments.

So we got together and started designing and wow the love that went into this garden was just unbelievable.   After having a design together, we approached the clinic where she took her treatments and they were thrilled about the idea and even set up a fund for the project and gave seed money to get it started.  I felt so blessed to have been a part of this wonderful garden and below you will see some of the pictures.

Just some highlights of this wonderful project …………..  You should have heard the reaction of the concrete place when we called and wanted an estimate for pink concrete – I still laugh about that today.  In the 2nd picture you will see that this is the middle of the pink ribbon – which was the basis that the garden was designed around.  A closer view in the 2nd picture was our main water feature and we even design and made the water feature – that is a multi-colored stainless gazing globe made into a fountain.

The 3rd picture was just simple amazing in coming together as that is our wall of water – this was a piece of metal that actually has dents hammered into it (and get this- our cancer survivor’s husband was blind – he was the one that put the dents in the metal and actually was up on the ladder helping us install it.  This garden was so blessed in sooooooooo many ways – especially the way that the volunteers kept coming to help, the way the donated money kept coming in, the way things kept getting donated.

There were benches, trash containers, edging, the irrigation, etc. all donated.  The last picture was our BIG miracle – we wanted an angel to watch over garden as we felt that angels watched over our survivors.  The committee searched for angels and finally found this one and talking about a miracle – we all prayed over this as the price tag on her was to the tune of $10,000.00.  I remember us all thinking this was going to be a challenge to raise this kind of money.

We approached the clinic with our proposal and asked if they had suggestions on how they thought we could raise this kind of money – well they offered to put it in their next newsletter that went out to people that donate to the clinic.  Well to let you know that God was sure with us on this project – we got a call from the clinic telling us to order the angel that we have the money – an insurance company found out about the project and donated all the money for the angel.

I tell you this story because after being on this project committee, I have seen for myself that if enough people come together and work hard that things are possible.  This is why I was so excited when the TE ladies approached me and wanted to know if I would like to be part of their project.  We have got together and are going to have a surfing contest with 7 TE to help make people aware of breast cancer.

Remembering my Bailey

Some say that you can’t make close friends online with people that you have not physically meet – well I have to disagree and let me tell you – I sometimes think that these people know you better than your off-line friends as they work with you everyday, you are there for each other and that is what building relationships are about.

As most of you know I lost my Bailey this last weekend and here is my blog post Losing your best friend

Ellen who is my partner in crime on here wrote a nice tribute to Bailey on her blog Ode to Bailey

Then my dear friend Kevan from the UK made this awesome framed picture for me – just had to share

So the next time someone tells you that you can’t make real friends online with people that you have never met – well tell them that I said it’s bull crap – I have proof with all the messages that I got yesterday, all the hugs that came thru Skype, all the calls, IM and emails  – this is real people if you just take the time to get to know the people that you add as friends.

Last but not least I would love to share something a dear, dear friend Azar did for me and to me this is priceless – the message is little soft in the beginning but worth turning up your speakers for – http://play.goldmail.com/33km4htv7ipg

Thanks everyone for all your support – it’s all of you that has helped get me thru all this ((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))

Losing your best friend

Well didn’t think this would be my next post but just felt the need to put some of my feeling out there about losing your best friend.  You see my best friend was my Golden Lab, Bailey as he had been with me for almost 12 years and knew me so well.  When I think back now over the last 12 years, no matter what he was there for me and it’s not easy to let that go sometimes but yesterday I had to deal with that – you see God needed him more than I did.

They always say that God don’t give you more than you can handle but that was sure put to a test yesterday.  You know it’s funny how they learn to adjust to your schedule as during the winter I do get on this crazy schedule but he never complained – he’d go out before we went to bed which was sometimes 5, 6 or even 7 AM and then wait for me to get up and start my day.  Yesterday I started my day at 11AM and Bailey just laid there and looked at me – it was like he wanted to get up but just couldn’t.

After some coaxing, I finally got him up and you could see that his hips look like they were going to give out any minute – well he made it outside and under the deck and that was it.  There he laid and by this point you could see is was a chore just lifting his head to look at me.  So I called the vet and of course it’s after hours and if it’s an emergency you have to call a vet that is 45 minute drive from me.  So there I am – what do I do.

This is one of the few times living alone was not easy  as Bailey was at least 100 lbs and there was no way that I was going to get him lifted in the truck by myself.  So I call a friend of mine and Shannon came over and helped me get him from under the deck and out to the truck.  Then talk about the 45 longest drive that I have ever made and I look back on it today and don’t know how I even did it – crying all the way as I knew what the verdict was going to be as Bailey was going to be the 4th dog buried in my back yard and had watch the same thing happen with Shammy, Shasta, and Kesha.

By the time I got to the vet’s office – I checked on him and he just looked at me with this relieved look in his eyes – you know animals know when it’s their time and it’s really selfish on our part to make them suffer anymore because we don’t want to lose them.  When I think back now – he had to be suffering for quite awhile as he would lay around and whin – and me just thought it was him wanting to go outside but now I realize that is was because he was hurting and in pain.

I know in my heart that Bailey is in doggy heaven and not hurting today and that even tho the house feels sooooooooooooo lonely – I have to think about the 12 years of happiness that he brought me – the times that he got me thru some bad time, made me laugh, licked my tears away, and was just there for me when I needed a hug – Bailey will always have a place in my heart but today – I have to believe that him, Shammy, Shasta and Kesha are playing in doggie heaven today.

Get paid to view websites

I find it interesting to learn that people did not realize that there are sites out there that pay you to view websites – so I’m going to tell you about a new site that you get paid to view websites.

Most of you know that there are lot of sites out there that do this – in fact I own 9 of them myself but I want to tell you about a new one that hasn’t been opened that long and I can tell you that this site really pays. See you have to be careful with these sites as some will promise to pay you and then you may only get .00025 for each one you view – well you do the math – that would take someone a long time to even make a dime or quarter.

There are some things about this site that impresses me – it’s different than most of them out there. One the launch was awesome and they are up over 42,000 members already and that was just in a month – that is every site owners dream.

The other thing that impressed me was that I have many friends and all the people that I’m hearing from that they made enough for payout already as usually the payout is so high on these sites that it takes forever to reach them – Earnings will be determined by a number of factors including:

• Your level of participation (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum)
• The number of ads you click each day.
• The number of ads your referrals (if any) click each day.
• The current rate of payout for each ad.

Your account balance will be credited each time you click an ad. When your account balance reaches at least $2.00, you can request a payout to one of our available online processors. Now you are thinking that is not much money – but I look at it this way – that would buy me a new domain lol

If you are like me and save your change in a jug and then when you want to treat yourself to something special – well I go and cash in my change at the bank – it’s amazing how fast that adds up. This is how I see these get paid to view websites.

If you are interested – just click on the banner – join and start saving your change today.
