Being a blog writer, I am always looking for ways to get new followers, new readers and know that one of the best ways is to find others that have similar interest, same niche that you have or find someone that you can share tips or suggestions with. Well, for years, I knew that the way to do this was to find blogs, articles, etc. and meet the writers of these.
So I began searching different places – social sites, twitter, google etc. – you know putting in keywords trying to connect with the right people. I spent hours and hours searching and would come up with a few here and there until I was told about Google Alerts.
Why you want to use Google Alerts is that it can save you TIME, it can bring you those contact that you have been looking for right to you. This is the most amazing thing that I have ever seen – all this info delivered right to your email account as soon as it happens. I know this sounds too good to be true huh?
I would suggest that you set up a new gmail email account just for these alerts – that way it’s easier to keep them separate from all your other emails. Then go to Google Alerts and set up alerts to either come to your email account immediately when things are posted based on your keywords, people names, events, or by adding in your niche.
You can also set up how often you want these alerts, then can come immediately, daily, weekly – it depends on what you want to accomplish with them. Now I have alerts set up for many reasons – I have them set up for people that I want to follow and it will send me emails when that person names comes up. Also, I have many alerts set up for different keywords within my niche so that I can be the first to comment on others blogs – getting my name out there for other to see.
Other alerts that I have is for everything related to my niche and that is when I’m having a mental block about what to write then I go to these alerts and get my ideas by reading what others are chatting about, having problems with or something that can help me learn more.
If you have not given Goggle Alerts a try, I would recommend that you do – it’s easy to set up and easy to use – you just need a gmail addy and you are ready to go. Now to find your Google Alerts you can go to your email account – at the top click on more and in the drop down click on and more and then you will see all your features with your Google account – or you can just type in Google Alerts into Google.
