Building A Website? Try These SEO Tips

Seo Tips The process of tailoring your website with keywords for the purpose of improved search engine results rankings is called search engine optimization. There is an entire industry that revolves around search engine optimization. There are a lot of people that will try to convince you that search engine optimization techniques are too difficult for typical webmasters to use. Disregard those who attempt to dissuade you.

You have to provide a vast amount of content across lots of various topics if you want to increase your search engine rankings.

However, you must make sure you are remaining in your niche. If the blog is about hockey, discuss hockey player cards, team jerseys and equipment. By providing a wide array of articles centered around specific subjects, you increase the likelihood that your site will appear near the top of search results.

If you optimize your site, it should be based on keywords and niche. You need to include articles that utilize the keywords in a natural and informative manner. Your keywords can also be included in the links and titles. This helps your site to appear higher.

When you add a site map to your site you add in an essential part for search engine optimization procedures.

Spiders are much better at crawling a website if a site map is present. A large site might require more than one site map. In general, try not to have more than 100 links on each map.

Image links can be optimized for search engine ranking by adding an “alt” tag to each image.

These tags are intended to replace images if the website visitor disables image display. Can you believe I just learned this always wondered why. lol As search engine spiders are reading these tags, it is imperative that the tags include your targeted keywords if you want to increase your websites ranking on SERPs.

Get a domain name that’s both memorable and relevant to your services or products.

If you utilize video clips or mass internet media like Youtube to advertise, remember that a memorable domain name will make a big difference when mentioned in clips.

Blog CommentingTry communicating on blogs, and put links on their sites. When you give a comment that is relevant, a lot of bloggers will give you a link. You should not leave your link on blogs that have nothing to do with the content of your site, and the comments you leave should add something of value to the other site. You will find it easy to spread around comments and links to your site if you have a thorough mastery of your subject matter.

Websites offering useful information and high quality content will rank above websites that are only used to sell a product. Try to provide some tips or articles about the items you are selling.

While SEO is definitely a complex field, it is also something that a novice can learn and incorporate. There are many steps an ordinary person can take to improve their search engine rankings as the article above presented. You don’t have to spend months or years learning how to attract visitors to your site. You might see improvements within a week when you start using these techniques.

  2. I have learned to make HTML Websites so I knew about the alt-tags, but it never occured to me that others who just got onto wordpress directly without the detour of HTML websites might not know. Also H1, H2, and H3 tags which are title tags.
The more you write and blog the better you get. Don’t write for the search enginges though, write for your readers and if you use some basic SEO tactics, SE’s will love you too and start finding, indexing and ranking you.
Good read, Nancy. Keep up the good work.

    • Thanks Xarah and yes I do try and write for my readers and I know I should be more concerned about my rankings but that is not why I’m here – I’m here to help others learn some of the things that took me hours to learn and also I learn soooooo much more everyday.

  3. That is super info Nancy. Like the tips where we have to keep niche and keyword intact. Very true, we do not want to divert people’s attention from the topic we are talking about.

    Thanks for the info.

  4. Great article. I am the blogger for my company and I get a lot of what you say and learned some new stuff. I like your simple direct writing style and speak from exp. This stuff does work. I look forward to reading more thanks

  5. I enjoyed and learned a lot from your post.I think we should comment on article that are relevant to our niche as we should have knowledge about our niche in case someone asks questions about it. I think the comments should contribute to the post.

    • Oh I agree Ralph – it’s not that I don’t comment on other friends blogs as I just don’t leave my blog link there then – as Google sees it as spam and that is not good thing. Backlinks are great and needed but also have to be done the right way to be effective.

  6. I am really impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Either way keep up the excellent quality writing, it’s rare to see a great blog like this one today

    • Thanks and I like changing the themes once in awhile and came across this one – it’s free but has a weird name – am posting the info here for you and anyone else that is maybe interested F2 1.0.10 by Srini G

F2 is a fast loading flexible width theme for WordPress. Customizable header, any of the two sidebars can be optionally turned off, and much more options in the settings page. Compatible with WordPress 2.8 and above. Valid XHTML, CSS.

    • A blog is a site that you write post about a certain niche that you are passionate about or things that interest you if you have a personal blog. It’s a place to share your thoughts or your opinion about things. I have designed mine to help others learn how to earn money online. A website is much more involved and can be set up in many different ways – it’s usually a site that you try and get traffic (viewer to) to either sell them a product or service you are offering. Hope that helps as it’s just a short summary

    • I’ve been asked a few times recently what is the difference between a Blog and a Website. If you stick ‘blogs’ into a Google search you’ll get millions of links, descriptions and explanations including which systems to use to build one. Same with ‘websites.’ So what’s the difference? To keep it simple a blog is small and a website is bigger. A blog can be free and simple; a website is usually paid for and can be huge – like Amazon or Google.

      • Thanks Marah for stopping by and leaving a comment and you know I think that everyone has a different opinion of their idea what a blog and website is – I enjoy reading what people give as descriptions.

        • Hi Nancy,

I precisely wanted to thank you very much once again. I am not sure the things that I might have tried in the absence of those hints provided by you over such field. It absolutely was a intimidating condition for me personally, but seeing the very well-written technique you dealt with that made me comment on your post. Now i am happy for the support and then have high hopes you really know what a great job you happen to be putting in educating readers using your web blog. Most likely you’ve never got to know all of us.

          Thanks
          Marah

          • Thanks Marah and I know what I have been thru and am hoping that I can let others break out of their shell and let them know the benefit of letting others know about them and also what a benefit it is to leave comments on others blogs when they are related to your niche.
