Vlogs – Lights, Camera, Action

No that is not a misspelled word – I did mean to type Vlogs and I know you are wondering now what is she talking about and before you think I have completely lost my mind – let me explain and you might find that you like Vlogging.

Are you one of those people that just hate to set down to write a blog post, article etc. and then just have no clue what to write about or can’t put your words down but would feel more comfortable speaking what you want to say – well then Vlogging on a Vlog just might be what you have been looking for.

Vlogs are video blogs actually – instead of writing – you get in front of the video camera and speak your thoughts.  Now I have ran into quite a few over the years that just have that natural speaking voice, the have a knack of voicing their opinion very well and the camera don’t scare them.  So I think that something like Vlogs would be ideal for them.

In my opinion, I actually think that in the long run Vlogging would save you time as you can just set down, speak what you’d like to tell everyone and you’re done – you don’t have to worry about typing, misspelled words, punctuation, etc. – I actually wish I wasn’t so camera shy and maybe after researching and seeing other Vlogs – might be a goal to set for myself.

Depending on your niche, I could see where Vlogging would work great – remember that a Vlog is just a collection of videos that you have created.  If you have videos on youtube on marketing say as an example – then you could set up a Vlog on Marketing and put your videos on and you are set to go.

The other niche that I could see this working well for would be maybe golf – how about online tips on different golf swings and what better way than to make a video recording and then can monetize your blog with books from Amazon, other sites that offer golfing supplies (become an affiliate)

The best niche that comes to mind for Vlogging about would be a travel niche, vacations, etc. think about the visual and how the saying goes – a picture is worth a thousand words.   So all you people that are not camera shy – lights, camera, action – find a niche for yourself and start Vlogging.

    • Yea I thought the concept was very interesting as I was researching it and know it would work well for a few that I know.

  2. Hi Nancy, This is a great subject although I knew very little about vlogging until a few days ago. I downloaded an ebook about vlogging and was fascinated by it. Until 2 days ago I had not heard of the term ‘vlogging’ and realize that yes there are lots of vloggers around and for those that haven’t tried it yet- I’ve heard it’s one of the hottest methods for promoting, branding, and for personal introduction out there! I have been trying to talk myself into giving it a whirl and probably will when I get the right moment. Thanks for the great information… Oh and Nancy, I think you could do some fantastic vlogs!

    • Yea I think Vlogging is another route that people can use but sweetie now sure it’s for me lol But I am going to try and work on it and see if I can get over my fear

  3. Once again you have given us much food for thought. I can see where it could save time and frustration that WordPress always seems to contribute. Until a person is really comfortable in front of the camera; you would probably be redoing the video over and over until it
it feels right. (That would probably be me) It is another challenge to master. Thanks Nancy.

    • Yea that is true Linda as I know when I finally do a video – I know it takes me quite a few times before I get one that I feel is finally done

  4. Nancy, You are so right. Doing vlogging sure would save a lot of time and get your message out there in a more personal way…I guess it is time to step out of my little comfort zone and get more done with video. It is always a pleasure to read your posts…Thank you:)

    • Thanks Angelene – always a pleasure seeing you and it’s not easy to get those videos done but they tell me it gets easier each time you do one lol

  5. I actually considered doing a vlog for my prep for my bodybuilding show. But I found the content would be kind of repetitive due to the nature of the “beast”. Essentially eating the same thing every day (until diet changes) and then working out the same body parts on the same day of the week. But you are absolutely correct — it saves time for typing and has a more REAL feel to it than just text on a page. You can see mannerisms, understand the delivery more accurately and be more personable — developing that relationship between you and the viewer.

    • Well I can see your point Carter – but just many would see you and be encourage to keep on – even tho it seems routine with you – you might be surprise yourself 🙂

    • Now you dear Kris would be excellent example of a person that could have a Vlog and am surprised that you don’t 🙂

    • Nice to meet you and am glad that you found me – if you have any questions let me know and if you want you can add me on skype @ nancyradlinger

  6. Great for people that are not camera shy. This would be such a time saver, Nancy. Once again, here you are, sharing great information for free. I am like you though, I am camera shy so I might have to wait a bit on this one as well but it sure is a great idea. Thank you for sharing.
